Course Aims
For new Operators.
On completion of the course, the operators will know:
- Their statutory duties under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974
- The machine identification, terminology and daily maintenance
- The safety aspects relating to the safe operation of this type of machine
- The effect of load size, weight, gradients and ground conditions upon machine stability

The duration of this course would depend on the delegate’s skills and previous training and experience.

DAILY INSPECTION TAKE OVER AND MAINTENANCE:
- Daily checklist
- Daily maintenance
- Vehicle condition
- Hydraulic condition
REFUELLING PROCEDURES:
- Battery powered
- Gas powered
- Petrol or Diesel powered
CENTRES OF GRAVITY AND LOAD STABILITY:
- Load Centres
- Fulcrum and Counterbalance
- Causes of Instability
DRIVERS RESPONSIBILITY:
- Personal Safety
- Parking of the forklift

EMERGENCY PROCEDURES:

Course Certification
An NPORS (National Plant Operators Registration Scheme*) Certificate, can be presented to each person on successful completion of this course (includes examination). There is an additional cost of £25.00 per person to join this registration scheme. We would require 2 passport photographs of each delegate, to enable us to present them with this certificate. This course is of standards acceptable to the Health & Safety Executives.
