Aldershot Soldiers Tackle Distraction Awareness Training

Field Training Services are pleased to support Jim Hill, Managing Director at Classic Race Simulators, who delivered 3 days of distracted driver awareness to 450 soldiers at Aldershot Garrison, supported by Rushmoor Borough Council. See what it means to them and the results of driving the simulators whilst distracted: Aldershot soldiers tackle distraction  awareness training

Debbie Field said “We are absolutely delighted that our associates Classic Race Simulators have had the opportunity to raise further awareness on distracted driving”.

Classic Race Simulators bespoke software enables them to identify how much attention is reduced when being distracted by other activities such as texting and being tired whilst driving. This proactive form of awareness allows these activities to be carried out in a safe environment with the use of simulators but brings home real life realisation to those participating and partners brilliantly with our driving safely policies and awareness.

Debbie said “We aim to support and guide Classic Race Simulators in the realms of driving safely at work and the Duty of Care employers have to their employees. If businesses, employers and employees attend this distraction awareness training, it will make a wealth of difference to them and others on the road and help to save lives”.

Like Debbie, Jim has an extreme passion to educate drivers about the danger of distractions. Debbie who is disabled with a paralysed arm, following being hit by a car, understands the effects it has mentally on the person who survives but also those around them.

Rather sadly, this distraction awareness programme was created following Jim being emotionally affected by the news of 4 people (3 children and an adult) who died on the A34 in 2016. These fatalities could have been prevented if the driver hadn’t been distracted. Very sadly one of those who was killed in this incident, was a beautiful young girl Aimee Goldsmith aged 11.

Aimee’s Mum, Kate Goldsmith, came along to show her complete support and encouragement at the event.

Debbie said “Kate is an inspiring lady and we will continue to work alongside Classic Race Simulators and Kate Goldsmith to continue to make a difference”.
